Look Both Ways: A Tale Told in Ten Blocks

May 10, 2025

Ten unique perspectives are brilliantly woven into one funny, piercingly poignant look at the detours we face on the walk home, and in life. Washington, D.C.–area native, New York Times best-selling author, and Kennedy Center Next 50 leader Jason Reynolds conjures 10 tales (1 per block) about what happens after the dismissal bell rings.

This co-production with Theater Alliance returns to the Family Theater after an October 2023 premiere and a Kennedy Center Theater for Young Audiences national tour in early 2025. See Reynolds’ award-winning book brought to the stage in a faithful musical adaptation by El Chelito and Raymond O. Caldwell, and directed by Caldwell.

Morning at the Museum - NMAH

N/A
May 17, 2025

Morning at the Museum (MATM) is a free, sensory-friendly program for children, teenagers, and young adults who are neurodivergent and their families in which they can visit a Smithsonian museum prior to opening on designated Saturday or Sunday mornings. Monthly programs rotate between Smithsonian museums. Registration is required. Pre-registered families visit one Smithsonian museum before it opens to the public, where they can participate in activities or explore the exhibitions independently at their own pace. Prior to each program, pre-registered families receive “pre-visit” materials to help them prepare for their visit including social narratives, sensory maps, visual schedules, and tip sheets. Similar pre-visit materials are available to help families plan for visits that take place outside of MATM program hours. These pre-visit materials can be found in the “Resources” section of the Office of Visitor Accessibility website.
